The Best Longevity / Anti Aging Supplements. The Top Reviews

If you were to do a search today (2015) for the best longevity and anti aging supplements that have over 20 reviews or more and are rated in the 5 star category on Amazon.com, E-bay and other websites by users, you would come up with the following Top 3 which are:

Vitamin C Serum

Hyaluronic Acid

Phytoceramides

The interesting thing is these 3 are commonly combined with each other. For example Vitamin C Serum is combined with Hyaluronic Acid for increased effectiveness, and Phytoceramides are combined with Vitamin C Serum for increased effectiveness. Vitamin C is an enhancer for many herbs.  For example if you take Vitamin C with green tea it increases the effectiveness of the green tea.

Vitamin C Serum - This is one of the most common and most effective anti-aging products.  It is commonly combined with Hyaluronic Acid.  Other common combinations include grape seed extract and green tea extract. There are also some excellent websites showing how you can make your own Vitamin C serum. Vitamin C serum may be one of the most effective, simplest and least inexpensive anti aging supplements available today What is interesting is back in early historical times early humans were able to produce vitamin C in their bodies naturally through their genes, which probably explains why there are reports of people living hundreds of years thousands of years ago.  What is interesting is through evolution, genetic changes caused the human body to stop reproducing its own Vitamin C, possibly shortening the human lifespan.

The famous herbalist Li Ching-Yuen, (born in 1667) was reputed to have lived to 250 years. He stated one of the secrets was due to eating lots of goji berries  to  apparently ate lots of Goji Berries.  The interesting thing about Goji Berries, is that they contain more weight of vitamin C per volume than any other known food and have up to 500 times more vitamin C per ounce than oranges. Goji berries have all 18 amino acids as well as mega doses of vitamin A. Vitamin A is one of the most powerful vitamins to take to help the body fight bad viruses and bad bacteria according to a study titled: "Vitamin A and immunity to viral, bacterial and protozoan infections", published by Johns Hopkins University. Spirulina also happens to be one of the foods highest in Vitamin A.

Phytoceramides - Phytoceramides are found in high concentrations within the cells of your body. It's a fact that as your body ages, less quality cells are reproduced, so this supplement helps you "gas up" on the molceules necessary for healthy cell growth.  Phytoceramides also help the moisture from evaporating from our skin by creating a water-impermeable, protective organ which prevents excessive water loss and evaporation. It also acts as a natural barrier against the entry of microorganisms.  Phytoceramides can be found in  the Japanese plant konjac-tuber and research is currently being conducted to extract Phytoceramides from Chia Seeds.  Phytoceramides are available also as a supplement.

Hyaluronic Acid - This is a remarkable substance because it can be used both topically and taken internally. In November 2000 ABC News’ Connie Chung reported on the Japanese village Yuzuri Hara, reporting that the people in this village have had a generations old reputation for extraordinary longevity, with many of them living well into their 90´s. They also stay healthy well into old age, rarely plagued by health woes such as heart disease. Their skin also is smooth and supple. When anti-aging researchers visited the villiage they found that they consumed a diet of starchy tubers such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, imoji (a potato root), and konyako (a gelatinous concoction made from root vegetables).  These starches have been scientifically proven to increase hyaluronic acid levels in the body, according to researcher Perricone. Hyaluronic Acid is commonly combined with Chia seed (another substance that becomes gelatinous when exposed to water and Vitamin C).  When Hyaluronic Acid is combined with Chia seed, it helps re-build collagen and elastin to form new cartilage, great for old aching joints.

Hyaluronic Acid combined with Vitamin C is also commonly applied topically to the skin, helping to re-build tissues and collagen, due to its ability to deeply penetrate layers of the skin and remoisturize the skin, as well as assisting in the eradication (and prevention) of wrinkles, sagging, and signs of aging. Other common combinations include jojoba oil, witch hazel, and green tea.

An interesting side note about Hyaluronic Acid is that mole rats, which produce a lot of Hyaluronic Acid never get cancer.  Reserachers did a study on why mole rats don't get cancer and discovered that it was due to the high levels of Hyaluronic Acid which forms a starchy compound in their system, that stops cancer cells from multiplying. Another part of mammals that do not get cancer is the human heart, which according to this scientific research study, happens to have a very high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid compared to other organs of the body.

The next list of foods in the top 10 category and include:

Astaxanthin - A form of algae, that synergizes (commonly mixed with and sold together) with the algae Spirulina. May also synergize with Carnosine.

The Haematococcus algae, when it is about to be harvested, when it is in its final stage of growth, are put out in the intense sunshine and are stopped being fed nutrients.  As they’re starved and subjected to extreme UV rays, the algae hyperaccumulate natural astaxanthin, as an evolutionary survival mechanism. After seven days, the algae will turn green to bright red as the astaxanthin levels peak. Then they are harvested and sold.

Moringa - Reputed to cut back on unwanted urges to eat. A great appetite suppressant.Overeating is one of the major contributors to obesity. Chia seed, as well as cumin seed are also wonderful appetite suppressants and also help reduce or eliminate sugar cravings.

Glutathione - Used with the anti aging amino acid carnosine in skin patches.

Maca Root Powder - Maca grows at the elevation of 12,500-14,500 feet above sea level in the Andean plateaus.  This is a common trait among anti-aging foods.  Herbs and plants subjected to extremes develop natural immune defences allowing it to survive.  Astaxanthin for example survive laying dormant for over 40 years or more without food or water and in intense heat or extreme cold. When rain returns they start swimming around again as healthy as if nothing had happened and the oldest bristlecones pine trees, some of which grow to over 4,000 years old grow at elevations of 10,000 to 11,000 feet, surving drought, cold and other extremes.

Fish Oil - This one I personally can attest to.  Not only does it help create healthy glowing skin, but fish oils contain healthy fats and help reduce the chances of getting cancer.  Fish oil also contains omega 3's.  ed by Dr Carl Lavie, of the Ochsner Cardiology Clinic in Louisiana, the study showed omega-3 oils help to prevent blood clotting and regulate or lower blood pressure. In another study researchers from the University of California sated omega-3s from fish oil helped cells in the body live longer.  The fish oil slowed the damage to the DNA in the body's cells.

Additional Information:

Fish Oil synergizes well with Carnosine and I include Cod Liver Oil capsules in my Overnight Rejuvenation Supplement
Phytoceramides may synergize with Carnosine and further reserach is necessary.

So in closing, as more and more people ¨test" the thousands of anti-aging supplements and foods out there, more and more ratings start to pile up, giving us a very good clue as which foods help offset the aging process.
